A child of the North, educated in the South, who’s constantly eating, drinking, and dreaming.

I grew up in Connecticut, a born wanderer. I went south for college, to Elon University, where I studied Political Science, International Studies, Latin American Studies, and Spanish. I thought politics or government service was my calling, but after graduating and working on my first political campaign I quickly realized that was not the world for me.

They say necessity is the mother of all invention. In 2007 it was more the necessity of paying rent that led to the mother of all career changes. Through a series of jobs to make ends meet I found myself suddenly enmeshed in the food industry, and I also began to realize that my passion for writing now had an outlet.

Over the past decade I’ve been at various times a bartender, restaurant assistant manager, pastry assistant, cheesemaker, waiter, and served on the board of a farmers’ market. I founded the successful local food blog Eat, Write, Go in 2009 in my adopted (and current) hometown of Durham, North Carolina. After growing the blog for more than six years, becoming one of the premier voices in local food in the area, I closed it down to focus on freelance writing for other publications.

Today I’ve been fortunate enough to write for a variety of local, statewide, and national publications and have branched out from covering the local food scene in the Triangle region of North Carolina to writing about food and beverage topics across the world.

Up until 2020 I was also assisting my husband in operating a small-scale wine importing company focusing on wines from the Balkan region. While we closed that business in the pandemic, the experience allowed me the opportunity to spend nearly a third of each year based in Croatia, and I still continue to expand my knowledge of food, wine, tourism, and culture throughout Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Croatia.

Other non-edible interests include Bob’s Burgers, running, playing with pretty much any animal I encounter, and collecting far too many cookbooks and houseplants.

That’s me in a nutshell! Reach out, say hey, and stalk me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok because that’s what all the cool kids are doing these days.
